The misuse of my name
Do you ever google your name and click I'M FEELING LUCKY? Today I was feeling lucky (aka bored), so I did just that.. www.jenniferhunter.com, and I have a commentary about what I saw. Meet Jennifer Hunter. Middle aged, unsure about marital status, sexual orientation...not that any of those things really matter. Jennifer is a professional orgainzer! Better known as, a glorified maid! Her work is immaculate, just look at the before and after shots! Before After Wow, uh look at that umm 20 minute cleaning job? And my guess is changing the desktop picture took about 10 of those.."First of all, you MUST get rid of the boring blue desktop..lets try some oranges and pizzaz! Being visually stimulated will motivate you to get off your fanny and organize! Organize!" Oh wait..no it won't..you hired an "orgainzer" to do a job that would have taken you only a fraction of your day to tidy up in the first place. And meet Jennifer's clientelle... ...more middle age women, with apparent paper phobias. Look at her recoil at the thought of paper cuts.."OOooh they sting!" This woman could not muster up the energy to get out of her jammies for a photo op, clearly she needs help. Frequently asked questions for Jennifer: 1). Will you do cleaning too? "In houses where there is a lot of clutter, the process of organizing often uncovers and kicks around a lot of dust, cat hair, and sometimes just plain dirt. As we go, I do a surface cleaning to keep the working area pleasant, but in general, I recommend doing a thorough cleaning yourself or by hiring a housecleaner after we're done." That's right, she won't do your dishes, vaccuum layers of cat fur, etc... 2) What are your qualifications? "I have always loved organizing. As a teenager, I would organize my bedroom for fun. I volunteered at the local library at age 13, before they could legally pay me, because I liked alphabetizing the books on the shelves. A messy space inspires me to organize it in the same way food appeals to hungry people. I enjoy coming up with creative solutions to issues like small spaces; it's like a challenging puzzle to solve. At the same time, I understand that most people aren't wired this way, and maintain an empathic attitude when working with clients. I also tend to be a bit whimsical, and I maintain a fun attitude as we work." Read: NONE. But boy does she make up for it with good old fashioned zeal! And Jennifer does have her fans...just read this post from a happy client! "Jen used every minute of time, and we got tons done. I remember being thrilled that she did dishes. OMG, I still hate doing dishes." --L.D., Arlington, MA Soooo, apparently she does do dishes..maybe she only offers to do that when she finishes her 20minute organizing job and still has time to kill? (As most people are paid by the hour..) This is what being bored at 11:10pm does to some people... Jen | | Monday, July 28th, 2008 | | 11:58 pm |
Things I can't avoid...
Hrmm, go to bed or post an update? Here's some things I've learned as of late... 1) I am not always politically correct, in fact I'm often times very politically incorrect..sometimes I'm offensive, not intentionally however, but inadvertently. I meandered over trying to be politically correct, but when it all boils down to it, maybe I lack sensitivity, maybe a jaded outlook from a difficult past has left me with a "suck it up" mentality. And while I can be a sensitive person, I find it difficult to sympathize in many situations... 2) My best friend is quickly becoming someone I don't want to be around..he's my best friend, and like a brother to me..and while I understand he is dealing with issues in his life, I don't understand why he feels the need to be an asshole on a whim. I sometimes feel like there's a bitterness between us since I love my life, and he's not happy with his own. 3) I am happy. Pure and simple. Happy. Not without reservations, a slight paranoia, but still happy. Thank you. 4) There's a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" hearing within the US Military. One ignorant woman speaks about how if queer people come out in the military, how will the straight people cope!? "Evidence shows that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly is unlikely to pose any significant risk to morale, good order, discipline, or cohesion." Ugh, fuckers. Welcome to the MFRC...hope you enjoy working in the 50s
A new "amendment" to our dress code..the board is still considering this.. "female employees are required to wear neat and clean dress skirts, dresses, slacks, top, and shoes" "Not allowed to wear: anything denim (jeans, shirts, skirts, and dresses), also includes coloured demin, athletic shoes, velcro sandals, shorts (including dress shorts for women), sleeveless anything, leggings/stirup pants, mini skirts, halter tops, and overalls" Why not just buy all the staff uniforms while you're at it.. Oh but I CAN wear: Shorter skirts/dresses with nylons year-round, longer skirts/dresses without nylons in the summer months, khakik shirts, blouses/sweaters/knit tops That's right ladies, you must look like a knock out at work..because you know 3 year olds and their parents want a fashionable mademoiselle looking after them..so what if you can't get down to their level because you don't want to ruin that new pair of dress pants or fancy skirt you just bought? Those kids will just have to learn, fashion (aka "professionalism") is always more important than quality child care. If this amendment goes through, I quit. idle scurry
what a wasteful way to spend the day, keep our eyes off each other walk otuside, side by side, close enough to one another keep your hands in my pocket and mine behind my back we're on a track.. so often trod.. one step, two step, three step, back step, side step one step, two step, three step, back step, side step don't go away hide away stay away back away come back push me away screw.. and lay.. the title, idle scurry, rather discloses exactly what is going on in my mind these days. i have these one or two thoughts that just won't go away, and they're rather afflicting because these thoughts just idle and stagnate and won't just slither away like i'd prefer. part of me wants to embrace potential and dream about the future..another part of me wants to detach from this situation i'm currently in. i know that what's going on right now is in fact for the best. i know the decisions we make now will most likely benefit us in the future, but what ever happened to the glorious pleasures of instant gratification? just being "in the moment", and not worrying about what lies ahead down the road where we cannot see. so many of us place our treasures and hopes in the future the future the future..gotta get married, get a good job, have kids, be successful, gotta plan gotta focus..can't think about today while we're worrying about tomorrow. money stresses get us down, life goals become unreasonable (or seem unattainable), and everyone is searching for something better than what they already have (jobs, partners, apartments, cars, clothes, gadgets, etc). Fuck the future is what I say. Today I live for today...and that's damn well good enough. for you, my dear friend, to quote Charlotte from "Charlotte's Web": "You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that." always, Jen Current Mood: contemplative | | Monday, April 16th, 2007 | | 9:48 pm |

HOW TO SURVIVE IN 5-220 STEWART 1) Bring portable electric heater 2) Buy TONS of weather stripping 3) Buy RAID...by the dozen 4) Buy lamps..we hear bugs hate light. 5) Be wary of landlords who don't remove their boots 6) The little black pellets in the drawers are not from mice..i swear... 7) Neither is that squeeking and scratching sound 8) Dull monotonous rhythms from upstairs can only be explained as really bad intercourse..fret not, it will be over in approx. 20 seconds 9) If case of mold allergies, move. holidays
am at the beginning of my holidays until april 10th. nice and long.. the search for a new apartment is still very active...today i have one place i'm going to see. my friend matt is coming along to see it with me and then we're going out for chinese. so far i've seen some dooooosies: cooper and o'connor: a basement apartment..same colour as mine, only smaller.. york and nelson: bad neighbourhood..the "super" was drunk with 2 of his buddies when i got there..the apartment was small and disasterous.. breezhill ave N: was a nice apartment, good price..in mechanicsville though..i was about to snatch it up but the lady said someone else had taken it already..damn my apathy. today i have 2: bronson and laurier..and one on willow street wish me luck..tomorrow i go shopping in montreal for a late National Women's Day trip weeee | | Friday, March 9th, 2007 | | 8:17 am |
partying into the wee hours..WEEEEEE!
dear patrons of Babylon nighclub, although you can throw some kickass parties, and have me shakin my booty till the sun comes up, offer me delicious pizza, and yummy drinks, i do not appreciate your start time policy...the policy: start whenever you feel like it. albeit doors were opened at 9:30, i understood that the hot springs weren't going to be going on till late (they themselves told me they were going on at 11:45), i went regardless. much to my surprise, when i arrived, i was told that one band had dropped out..imgaine my delight. after one hour, my delight starts fading...after 2 hours, i'm downright downhearted. the first band went on at 11:55pm. the hot springs went on at 12:50am. so, not only did you not start early..you started sooo much fucking later than you were supposed to. you suck..i still love the Hot Springs. Angrily, (sitting at her desk trying to stay awake) Jen. -Joe and Corrine concur...even though we all still had fun. Current Mood: exhausted | | Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 | | 11:35 am |
ice ice baby
this morning i was walking down the hill to get to work..let it be said, this hill takes approx. 5-10 min to walk down. as i'm walking, built-up tears from the wind are trying to fall, but alas the FREEZE TO MY EYELASHES..no joke. my eyes almost froze shut because of it..i also had little condensation pellets above my lip,..and when i finally arrived to work, my left ear was frostbit...lesson learned: wear your mothereffin hat on a cold day. -don't forget to set your clocks one hour ahead this sat-sun. out of commission
going through internet withdrawl... The internet I steal from isn't working right now..i'm picking up the signal (which is at "excellent"), but I think something is up with their router or something. so for now, I will be relying on the internet at work and going to various coffee shops..it's probably for the best, I've been meaning to read my new copies of "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka and "Coming Through Slaughter" by Michael Ondjaate. My weekends lately have been filled with fun and rekindling old friendships. Friday night, Joe and I rented "The Departed" and ate delicious pavarrazi pizza. Saturday I did a bit of shoppping and met up with Alex and Mary for coffee and banter. Saturday night, Shannon (my coworker), Dave, and I went to Nate's Diner for dinner and then to Mavericks to see The Golden Dogs. Unfortunately, we didn't stay for the entire set, as it was getting late and Dave had to work the next day. Yesterday I made the hike to the Bridgehead on Beechwood..a lovely little Bridgehead that is completely unsullied by students, business people on their breaks, and well, basically, it's mostly vacant for the good part of the day. After I walked home, I decided to take a nap, for 2 hours..a good nap indeed. Bought some groceries, although I should have bought more.. Last night, Joe came over with his parents' crokinole board..for those of you who DON'T know what crokinole is: www.crokinole.com. We had some very interesting rules and consequences...a good time indeed. It is by far the most addictive game I play. My parents have one back at home, and my dad and I used to school each other all of the time..ps: I schooled Joe too. This is going to be a nice week. This is what I've decided. what the stars say
CANCER - PISCES : This is a good couple when sex is concerned. Both are sympathetic, affectionate, help each other. Cancer is possible to be a leader, as Pisces are eccentric in love. Quarrels are short-lived and end quickly in bed. Compatibility horoscope Cancer guaranties a good match day and night over a long or short time. hehe, yes:) Current Mood: happy | | Sunday, January 21st, 2007 | | 10:26 am |

*Groans*
Last night I went to play at Cosmic Adventures with my friend and his son...let it be known all: you will quickly discover you are not as fit as a three year old when having to crawl on you knees, launch yourself through osbtacles, and dive into ball pits, for 1.5 hours. My body=a bowl of pained jello. Regardless we had fun. Oscar (the 3 year old) wanted to be Spiderman..Richard (his dad) was the Green Goblin..I was Mary Jane (cuz Oscar wanted me to be a good guy). Basically it was 1.5 hours of Spiderman make-believe, and Richard chasing us around. I also cleaned Lennox's(my bunny) cage out yesterday and put new cedar chips in it..I don't think she likes the cedar chips (she had a different kind before): she's been perched on her log home for 12 hours now. What a trouper. Jen Current Mood: drained | | Thursday, December 28th, 2006 | | 1:14 pm |
Bite your tongue, Eugenia Last
Here reads my horoscope for today: "The more you try to help others, the less you will be appreciated for your time and effort today. Instead, plan a romantic evening with someone you love. If you are single, attempt to meet someone new through a friend or attending a social function." mr.eady, since you have now become my dating coach (such a lovelier term than "pimp"), it is your job to help me meet someone new. ps: if anyone needs a favour, fuck off..you don't appreciate it anyway apparently. post xmas wrap-up
Am back from a lovely xmas with the family. Most of my time in Morrisburg was spent playing with my neice and watching the "myriad" of Christmas tv shows. my friends Rebecca, Alexis, and I got a kick out of witnessing the nativity display at our church..it's a picture of santa leaning over baby jesus in the manger..he looks as though he's about to kill baby jesus and make Christmas "mine! all mine!" i think he's supposed to be praying to him...but it looks more like mr.burns when he does that "excellent" thing with his hands. This year for christmas, i received exactly what i asked for, a featherbed to go on top of my mattress, and Scene It (so far, I am undefeated!) For you viewing pleasure: Madison (she's holding a $5 bill that she got from grandma hunter..this girl is ALL about the money) it's nice having the house to myself for a while...i plan to loaf about and perhaps do some shopping..maybe visit Cafe M.
